About Bracken Records

Bracken Records released its first vinyl record in January 2005. It was founded and solely operated by Andy Bracken.

Twelve 7” singles, a vinyl LP, a cassette, a CD single, and one acetate later, the ‘Fern’ imprint was planted underground in 2010, and left to propagate.
It’s quite collectible these days!

And it did spawn. From it came Fruits de Mer Records, and Regal Crabomophone. Until 2012, when Bracken decided to concentrate on writing novels.

He’s written fifteen of them. Naturally, music and records feature in his writing. Releases stemmed from his books, on the Morning Brake label, and a 7” on Gardener’s Delight in 2024.

Twenty years on, though, and Bracken Records is back!
Bigger and better, as Bracken partners up with Till Wolff, thus enabling distribution in Europe, US and the UK!

Across its fifteen initial releases, Bracken ticked off  a dozen genres. From Indie rock, through shoegaze, post-punk, folk, lo-fi, psych, prog, acid-folk, art-rock and more.

Herr Wolff recently mused, “I don’t think Bracken Records would release a jazz record, would it?” To which I replied, “absolutely, it would! As long as we both loved it, we’d release it.” Of course, not being niche and formulaic is more challenging. When every subsequent release has the potential to not appeal to the existing customers… Yeah, that.

Oh, but if you want variety and a bit of spice, this is the place for you! So, come in, sit down and slip your boots off. Or, at least, slacken the laces and wriggle your toes. Breathe the air, filtered through green fronds, and infused with the scent of fresh new growth. You’re welcome here.
